Biography
Aymane Errachidi was born in Laayoune, a city in southern Morocco, and lives and works between his hometown and where he completed his studies.
He is graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA, Tetouan), where he received his
degree in 2021, ranking first in his class.
He is currently pursuing specialized graduate studies in documentary filmmaking at the Abdelmalek Essaadi faculty in Martil.
Ayman Errachidi is a multidisciplinary artist who innovates by using ultra-contemporary mediums such as video, installation, drawing, painting, and sculpture.
Fascinated by the mineral and austere landscapes of his childhood and by his desert culture, which is wild and proud, he makes it the central theme of his work.
Artistic approach
Due to my Sahrawi origins, I have been interested in sand as both a subject and
material.
I have always been fascinated by the earthy character of the arid desert landscapes composed of countless grains of sand.
The changing fluidity of this environment and its liquid properties have inspired a poetics of this particular geography of the South.
To understand the invisible forces that animate this landscape, I have adopted an almost scientific approach that favors the microscopic over the macroscopic.
Through drawing, sculpture, and installation, I try to reveal the geology inherent in the desert, reproducing scrupulously the enlarged forms of the mineral particles that compose it, and which, in turn, reveal themselves as mysterious
rocky landscapes.
I also use photography and video to explore the color of the sand, which reveals, under polarized light, a variegated and captivating chromatic
universe.
