Haunted

2024

In a grave, a young woman lies, unaware of her livelihood, womanhood, freedom, and promising future. She lies there as though she's dead. One day, as the sun cast its first morning rays, a glimpse of light enters the grave, her skin slowly warms up, and her eyes open up ever so slightly: " I have been gifted another life " she thought. From the relics and remnants of her old dead self, she tries to gather any bits she could, she tries to look within her for the will to live, for the hope to restart, for that untarnished self time and trauma hid and ruined. But alas, in order for her to start a new life, she must die first. She must die, and kill what's haunting her, she must painfully shed her old skin, she must face her own doubts and carry that feather like fragile resolve on the tip of her heart. Haunted, is a self-portrait series, built around a grave installation, a knit piece, and a young woman who realizes freedom comes with a heavy cost : part with the old self and symbolically die, to be born again.
