Biographie
Hamza Marmouche (b. 1997, Rabat) is a Moroccan visual artist exploring painting, installation, and experimental surfaces as meditations on memory, identity, and transformation. Blending digital gestures with tactile techniques, he creates abstract dreamscapes where recurring symbols, like the ladybug, guide subtle narratives. Working with canvas, translucent fabrics, and layered airbrush, Marmouche embraces the unpredictability of process to let meaning emerge organically. Based in Temara, he has developed his visual language through several artist residencies across Morocco.
Démarche
My painting practice explores themes of identity, memory, and emotional transformation through abstract forms and layered materials. I work primarily with oil and acrylic on a combination of linen, canvas, and hand-sealed fabrics. These materials allow me to build depth and texture, often using transparency as a way to evoke vulnerability and complexity.
Each work emerges from an intuitive process where personal symbols take shape. Recurring forms, such as the ladybug, function as a visual alter ego, while fragmented silhouettes, hands, and traces suggest the human presence without defining it. I approach painting as a space for emotional release, where subconscious feelings surface through color, form, and rhythm.
This process often reflects a tension between clarity and ambiguity. I am drawn to the unknown parts of myself and the world around me, and my work invites viewers to find their own emotional resonance within these visual explorations.
