Mourad OUSSAADAN
A stitch or memory that refuses to fade.
2025
This work consists of broken ceramic vessels restored with golden thread.
These particular vessels were unintentionally broken under circumstances beyond my control. I collected and kept them, as I still saw within
them the potential for endurance. They represent a personal archive that reconnects me to a deep relationship with a family member.
I tried to bring them back to life, not to recover their original function, but to preserve them from vanishing or returning to their raw state.
By imitating the same method I used to repair my own clothing, with thread and stitches, I began restoring the ceramics using thread. This act
became a metaphor for the bond between myself and the objects, a means of safeguarding memory.
The approach closely resembles the Japanese technique of Kintsugi (the art of golden repair), a traditional method of mending broken pottery
with precious materials.
