Biography
Kamal Saki was born and raised in Chichaoua in 1992.
From childhood he revealed a predisposition for art, which he first developed in an eclectic way, by copying and imitating works and styles.
But very quickly this practice of copying frustrates him. He then decided to take the competitive exam and enroll at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Tétouan in 2013, from which he graduated with a degree in art in 2017.
Artistic approach
Kamal deploys a true alchemical approach in his formal and conceptual plastic research that places man at the center of our metaphysical definition of time.
In his works traced by oxidation, he interprets both our utopian and philosophical vision of the inexorable march of days and hours which measure our actions, our creations, our thoughts whether ephemeral or lasting.
His representations highlight the fleeting durations of our lives, the time that escapes us, the wear and tear that eats away at us, beings or objects, until the final deadline.
"To express them, I chose this inevitable oxidation which destroys our existence and with it its memories, and their memories. This corrosion which I represent on the surface of my canvases or in my drawings establishes a formal aesthetic tool but also a conceptual reflection .
My questions about the question of time multiply my subjective and personal questions about the nature of this passing time.
Is this a tangible reality? Spatio-temporal unit of measurement? And in the service of what quantification exactly?
Like any tool based on man's metaphysical perceptions and impressions, it seemed interesting to me to explore its content in a plastic and artistic way.
How has time become a way of managing our lives and the crucial reference that precipitates our lives in a frantic race with accelerated rhythms and how does it end up imposing a validity or expiration date on our actions, our creations, to our beings in general."
