Biography
Born March 1, 1985 in Fquih Ben Salah, Younes LAASSOULI is a self-taught visual artist currently based in Mohammedia.
His passion for drawing and art manifested itself from a young age. Over time, he explored a diverse range of techniques, moving from colored pencil to smartphone stylus, then to acrylic and oil painting on canvas. This eclectic trajectory allowed Younes to develop a distinctive style, marked by a harmonious blend of impressionism and deep symbolism. His main influences are Vincent Van Gogh and Francis Bacon.
Younes' world is populated by "monsterlets", imaginary creatures with contagious smiles, who embody his desire to push the limits of traditional artistic conventions. In addition, his professional career as a management system and digitalization consultant offers him a unique perspective on life and the professional world, thus enriching his artistic approach.
He has participated in several renowned exhibitions, notably in Casablanca, Istanbul, Tetouan, Fquih Ben Salah and Dubai.
Artistic approach
Younes Laassouli's artistic approach is guided by a constant search for the state of "flow", this state of modified consciousness where time seems suspended and where creativity is expressed without constraints. Committing to his works without a predefined objective, he lets his imagination trace the path of his creations. This spontaneity is rooted in a philosophy that “art is always truthful, even when it exposes your lies to yourself. »
His artistic journey demonstrates an interesting evolution. A digital beginner, Younes then became interested in the classic rules of art between 2020 and 2022, exploring color theory and proportions in portraits. This technical foundation was not an end in itself, but rather a means of breaking the rules in a more enlightened way. With this in mind, his style evolved into a fusion of impressionism and symbolism, which now sets him apart.
The credo “If I could express myself in words, I would not draw” finds a particular echo in the soul of Younes Laassouli. For him, each work is a fragment of a larger story, a further step in his intimate and introspective journey. Context is therefore a key element of his approach, situating each creation within the broader framework of his personal trajectory and his meditation on the complex nature of human experience.
His parallel career as a management system consultant and digitalization expert enriches his artistic perspective. This professional activity offers him multiple interactions with people from various backgrounds, while allowing him to observe the complexity of the professional world. More crucially, his role as an entrepreneur provides him with financial freedom that frees him from the need to market his art. Thus, he maintains authentic freedom of expression in his artistic approach, preserving the integrity and originality of his work.
Experimentation remains at the heart of his practice, with Younes continually discovering and improving his techniques and choice of materials. He sees each work as an opportunity to feel an emotional impact, not only for himself but also for the viewer, even if this is not his primary objective. His work, far from being a commodity, is rather a sharing of his inner cosmos, a means of connecting with others on a deeply human and emotional level.
