Biography

Youness Miloudi is a Moroccan visual artist and designer, born in Oujda in 1993. Graduated from the Casablanca School of Fine Arts in 2017, his attraction to art dates back to his early years in Oujda, where he obtained his baccalaureate at Al-Mahdi Ben Barka high school, with an orientation towards applied arts.

His time at the Casablanca School of Fine Arts was a key period of exploration, allowing him to develop a unique artistic style. In the school's recycling workshop, he perfected the art of creating works from discarded materials such as VHS tapes, audio cassettes and cover art. He combines these materials with paintings and various objects, giving his creations a distinctive touch.

His artistic sensibilities have been deeply influenced by the world of music, particularly traditional oriental music (Reggada, El3arfa, El Gharnati, El Mechyakha, Rai). He spent his adolescence listening to these musical genres on repeat on his Walkman.

Under the concept entitled KASSITA, Youness Miloudi pays homage to past and present music by representing singers and musicians from Morocco and the Arab world. His portraits, made against brightly colored audio cassette backgrounds inspired by Pop Art, celebrate the cultural diversity inherent in Moroccan and Arab heritage.

Youness is deeply invested in promoting Moroccan art and satisfying the public's appetite for art. It draws its creative inspiration from the deep historical roots of Moroccan culture, seeking to honor several influential artistic figures who have left an indelible mark on Moroccan history.

Artistic approach

“KASSITA” is an artistic project specific to the young artist Youness Miloudi, this project consists of artistic works (paintings, installations, performances, etc.) which tour the galleries of the kingdom.

The goal of KASSITA is to best represent the cultural and artistic diversity of the regions of the kingdom and their artists, when the name "KASSITA" comes to draw the link between the support of the paintings produced which is none other than audio cassettes, that our young artist took care to seek out and collect, and the portraits created representing musical artists.
As a result, the cassette and the support for two forms of art, two artists, the first had it as a support to disseminate his works, his music and to address souls, and our young artist, Youness, who expresses with his brushes and his colors to pay homage to the distinguished artists of each region, culture and musical style by marveling our eyes and our imagination.
The audio cassette emerged in the early 1960s alongside vinyl records. At the same time, modern art was booming with a set of artistic phenomena closely linked to the spirit of an era, the essence of a broad cultural movement of the 1960s under the genre of POP ART which explains the choice of style for the creation of KASSITA's paintings.

Youness Miloudi found the perfect combination in KASSITA to unite different forms of art: music and its magic, painting and its charm, installation and wonders and performance and its sincerity, all this to guarantee us a trip unusual towards the discovery of music and its maestros, and culture and ancestral people through paintings and creations.
