Oumayma Abouzid Souali is a young Moroccan artist, born in 1997 in Rabat. Installed at
Tetouan, in 2021 she obtained her art diploma at the National Institute of Fine Arts of Tetouan (INBA).
She is a member and co-founder of the artistic group DAYZ.
His practice of the arts began in childhood, encouraged by the emulation of his family circle.
artistic. She has experimented with different mediums, including painting, drawing, engraving, installation,
video art, photography as well as singing which she puts at the service of a conceptual approach.
Throughout his academic career at INBA, his artistic projects have often focused on
the links between art and reflective subjects such as metaphysics, science and psychology.
She is particularly interested in the traces of memory linked to affects (Aesthetics of
Fear and Aesthetics of Catastrophe), linked to time (Point between Time and Tone) and also linked to
space (Landscapes: Traces of Saturated Memory)
She has participated in several group exhibitions in Morocco and Spain, such as the
exhibitions: Open studio, DAYZ group residency in Tétouan (2022), Working Class/2nd Life, under
the artistic curation of the artist Batoul SHimi and the curator and art historian Morad Montazami, at
the Kent gallery and the Cervantes Institute gallery in Tangier (2022), Mahi's carte blanche exhibition
Binebine at the Abla Ababou gallery in Rabat (2022), and also at Estampa international Art Fair, in Madrid
represented by the Saida contemporary art gallery, Tétouan (2017), among others.

Through my artistic practice, I investigate the transformations of places under the impact of time, space and memory. My work often implicitly raises questions about the link between this metamorphosis of places and memories with history, geography and culture, but also with emotion.
My artistic practice is thus inscribed between the present of the past and the present of the present, even, between memory and intuition as defined by Augustin.

Currently my artistic approach goes hand in hand with the need to conserve these places and update the memory linked to a space-time that no longer exists and the affects that marked it. My project particularly focuses on the memory of the Rif in Morocco, a mountainous, rural and remote region, which is also the cradle of part of my childhood.
Each time I revisit my grandparents' houses which are no longer inhabited, I am impressed by these spaces whose architecture is linked to the topography of this region. I find myself overwhelmed by the richness of the traces of memory and memories that emanate from these houses, from a time when they were still living spaces.

By using drawing and photography, sound and singing, craftsmanship and video art, my project will first of all be an attempt to represent and update this intimate memory through a presentation stage and by a show of which I will be both director, playwright and actress.
My project is intended to be an expression that will allow these memory traces to travel freely and everywhere in the world, in order to allow a mix between my own memories and those of others.
Finally, such an approach will make it possible to create and tell a hybrid, complex, vague and imperfect story in order to try to resurrect the traces of a “saturated memory”
