Biography

Born in Casablanca in 1988, Saad Nazih today lives and works in Mehdia, near Kenitra. Laureate of the École Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Casablanca in 2011, he enriched his initial training for ten years by participating in multiple residencies abroad, in Norway at the Gamle Ormelet art center in 2015, in Poland during of the Malownisza Barbarka Torun International Painting Festival in 2016, but also in Belgium, Thailand, Turkey, Qatar or in 2020 in Rennes at the private residence Le Verger.

It is on the strength of these meetings and ongoing research that he explores one of his favorite themes which is the stranglehold of the power of money on our lives, undermining relationships within of the couple as social exchanges.
Attentive to the different forms of power, both religious and political, which hinder the free development of individuals, Saad Nazih always offers in his painting a way out towards dreams and imagination; where all tensions condense and the wildest desires are fulfilled. If in the attention he pays to miniatures, his work can sometimes evoke the Flemish painting of a Brueghel or a Bosch, it is towards a surrealist aesthetic that most of his paintings tend.
Often allegorical, his works are also vectors of moral values that the spectator can implicitly decipher if he knows how to pay close attention to the enigmas proposed to him.

For the quality of his work, the painter has received several first prizes to date, including that of the Festival of Plastic Arts of Monastir in 2013 in Tunisia, of the Carrefour National des Jeunes Artistes Peintres in 2015 in Morocco or in 2018 that of the World Bank .
He has participated in several exhibitions, both in his native country and internationally, at fairs or represented by art galleries, in Denmark, Austria, India and Spain.

Artistic approach

"…This series of miniatures is a fragment of ideas and images which depict a society far from being understood.
The aim being to denounce certain practices and principles, which in my opinion are established by an archaic collective conscience, and to encourage the viewer to meditate on values, ethics and human conditions in our contemporary society..."
