Born in 1986 in Casablanca, Sanaa Abouayoub is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist.

After pursuing studies in economics and management at the University of Paris – Dauphine, she worked in multinationals in Morocco and Chile. However, she realized early in her professional career her need for meaning and creativity and began studying art therapy in Canada.

In 2015, she returned to Morocco and devoted herself to exploring its artistic universe. Her quest for free and liberated expression pushes her to explore different disciplines. She creates polymorphous art that revolves around the expression of the free woman inspired by a figure from Amazigh mythology.

She participates in her first residency and collective exhibition in Paris in 2018.

Her work as an art therapist with women in Morocco, Kenya, Uganda and Canada enriches her research linked to the relationship with the body, matter, pleasure, sensuality and spirituality.

She wrote her first collection of poems - La Fleur Amazighe - the texts of which she began to share in the form of performances and creative workshops.

I explore the different expressions of the free woman through ritual.
I define ritual as the creative process and an art in itself that elevates and sacralizes the artistic experience. Each ritual is an offering to collective healing.
Through this approach, I rediscover a lost Amazigh spiritual heritage that I claim through contemporary techniques and disciplines: drawing, painting, poetry, singing, self-portrait and performance. My creations constitute the archives of my creative process.
My art is rich in symbolism and exudes a fierce, playful and sensual energy.
