Pour les 4 oeuvres:
I’ve seen them move through the world
with elegance and fire
balancing what’s asked, what’s expected and what they dream for themselves.
Mères, sœurs, khaltis
raised to be strong,
but never too loud.
To hold it down,
but never break down.
To care for everyone,
but rarely be cared for.
In the Maghreb, sisterhood is sacred
but it’s also heavy.
A place of healing, yes,
but sometimes also of judgment.
And even within the group,
you can feel too much, or not enough.
Too modern, too free, too sensitive.
Not always supported.
Not always safe.
As a man, I’ve learned to watch closely.
To unlearn what I was taught to expect.
To honour the strength
but not romanticize the struggle.
This work is not mine,
but this space is.
And I offer it to them,
not to speak for them,
but to say:
I see you. I hear you. I hold you.
To the ones I carry with me every day
Henna. Yema. Soumaya. Faouzia.
Your strength raised me.
Your love shaped me.
This is for you.
