The Arab Documentary Photography Program 10th Cycle

In 2014, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, the Prince Claus Fund, and the Magnum Foundation launched the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), to support emerging documentary photographers in the Arab region.

ADPP has proven to be a major springboard to emerging Arab photographers shedding light on important though neglected and unknown narratives. The program has offered an opportunity to more than 85 documentary photographers to explore creative, personal, long-term, and analytical approaches to their work, granting access to the needed resources and adequate professional support to initiate and complete compelling documentary photography projects. Looking back at nine years of ADPP, we are convinced that the program remains essential for nurturing free expression, amplifying unheard narratives, and raising the level of creative documentary photography in the Arab region. Additionally, we recognize the importance of extending support to the program’s alumni in various stages of their careers while facilitating further regional and international exchanges between established and emerging photographers. As such, together with our ADPP partners, we have launched the ADPP Alumni Fellowship, open to all ADPP alumni. With the launch of the 10th cycle of ADPP and the introduction of the ADPP Alumni Fellowship, we commit to continuing our support to documentary photographers in the Arab region and nurturing an ever-growing community.
